Twarz Spatifu

𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝘂 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳

Vous le savez, photographier les visages — amis, inconnus, clients du Café Le Culturel dans l’Avesnois — est pour moi bien plus qu’un geste artistique. C’est un acte social, une démarche humaine. À travers ces portraits, c’est une communauté que l’on révèle, un lien invisible qui unit des personnalités venues de tous horizons autour d’un lieu : ce café, ancré dans l’histoire et dans le cœur des gens.

Mais il existe, tout au nord de l’Europe, un autre lieu magique. Un lieu que la Pologne entière connaît. À Sopot, le Spatif n’est pas qu’un bar : c’est un monde à lui seul, un repaire d’artistes, de rêveurs, de noctambules. C’est une scène permanente, intense, bohème, imprévisible. C’est aussi un lieu que je fréquente depuis plus de vingt ans — et qui m’émerveille toujours.

Alors voilà. J’ai décidé d’y faire résonner ce projet, de l’y ancrer aussi. Le projet #LesAmisDuCulturel aura son double en Pologne : #TwarzeSpatifu — Les Visages du Spatif. Car oui, quand on monte l’escalier du Spatif, on entre dans sa légende. Et ce projet photographique en sera le reflet.

Et c’est avec une amie chère que j’ai choisi d’ouvrir cette nouvelle série : la belle Marzena. Bientôt Vingt ans d’amitié — eh oui, ça ne nous rajeunit pas ! Je l’ai rencontrée ici, au Spatif. Et quand Marzena danse, elle incarne à elle seule l’âme du lieu, ses nuits enflammées, ses émotions à fleur de peau, son intensité unique.

Merci à elle d’avoir accepté d’en être le premier visage. Et un immense merci à Arkadiusz Hronowski pour son accueil et sa précieuse complicité.

L’aventure commence.

𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳

As many of you know, photographing faces — friends, strangers, or regulars at Café Le Culturel in the Avesnois — is, for me, much more than an artistic gesture. It’s a social act, a human approach. Through these portraits, a community is revealed — an invisible thread connecting people from all walks of life, all centered around one place: this café, deeply rooted in both history and people’s hearts.

But far to the north of Europe lies another magical place — one known throughout Poland. In Sopot, Spatif is not just a bar. It’s a world of its own. A haven for artists, dreamers, and night owls. A place that’s constantly alive — intense, bohemian, unpredictable. And it’s a place I’ve been coming back to for over twenty years, always with the same sense of wonder.

So here it is. I’ve decided to bring this project to life there too. The project #LesAmisDuCulturel will now have its Polish counterpart: #TwarzeSpatifu — The Faces of Spatif. Because yes, when you climb the stairs to Spatif, you become part of its legend. And this photographic project will be a reflection of that.

I chose to begin this new series with a dear friend: the beautiful Marzena. Nearly twenty years of friendship — yes, it makes us both feel a little older! I met her here, at Spatif. And when Marzena dances, she embodies the soul of this place — its fiery nights, its raw emotion, its unique intensity.

𝗧𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘇𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂

Wiecie dobrze, że fotografowanie twarzy — przyjaciół, nieznajomych, klientów Café Le Culturel w Avesnois — to dla mnie coś więcej niż tylko akt artystyczny. To gest społeczny, ludzki. Poprzez te portrety ukazuje się wspólnota, niewidzialna nić łącząca osoby z różnych światów wokół jednego miejsca: kawiarni zakorzenionej w historii i sercach ludzi.

Ale istnieje też, na samym północy Europy, inne wyjątkowe miejsce. Cała Polska je zna. W Sopocie Spatif to nie tylko bar — to cały świat. Przystań artystów, marzycieli, nocnych dusz. To scena otwarta, intensywna, bohemska, nieprzewidywalna. To także miejsce, które odwiedzam regularnie od ponad dwudziestu lat — i które wciąż mnie zachwyca.

Dlatego właśnie postanowiłem przenieść tam ten projekt i osadzić go również w tej przestrzeni. Projekt #LesAmisDuCulturel będzie miał swój polski odpowiednik: #TwarzeSpatifu — Twarze Spatifu. Bo kiedy wspinasz się po schodach Spatifu, stajesz się częścią jego legendy. A ten fotograficzny projekt będzie tego odbiciem.

Serię rozpoczynam z kimś bardzo mi bliskim — piękną Marzeną. Prawie dwadzieścia lat przyjaźni — tak, wiem, to nie brzmi młodo! Poznałem ją właśnie tutaj, w Spatifie. A kiedy Marzena tańczy, ucieleśnia ducha tego miejsca: jego gorące noce, emocje, kolory, intensywność.

Dziękuję jej, że zgodziła się zostać pierwszą twarzą tego projektu. I ogromne podziękowania dla Arkadiusza Hronowskiego za życzliwość i cenną współpracę.

Zaczynamy nową przygodę.
